Broughton House, Kirkcudbright
At Kirkcudbright Burns lodged at Heid Inn, now the Selkirk Arms. Broughton House in the town's fine High Street, once the home of the painter E. A. Hornel, one of the 'Glasgow Boys' is now in the care of the National Trust for Scotland and contains an important collection of paintings by Hornel, as well as fine antique furniture, oriental curios and a superb library of over 20,000 books and manuscripts, many on the subject of Burns.
