The author is a folklorist, singer, writer and teacher who has dedicated her life to collecting oral
traditions.
In 1989 she received a Living Scotland Award from Glenfiddich to research Sanquhar Knitting.
This research formed the basis for her M.A. Hons dissertation at the School of Scottish Studies, Edinburgh University.
At present she is living at home in Galloway.
