The programme of exhibitions during the spring and summer, always include activities for children such as quizzies and trails. Workshops for children aged 8 to 12 years are run in the Easter and autumn holidays. In 1998 the Easter sessions will be on the theme of model making and buildings.

During the winter teachers are invited to bring classes of children along to the last exhibition of the season, which remains in place until early the next year . During 1997/8 visitng schools were offered three activities based around "The Victorians": a handling session with the Curator, a tour of the display and a Victorian lession with a Victorian teacher provided by the Centre. The theme for autumn and winter 1998/9 will be based on the display of paintings by a locally born Victorian artist: William Ewart Lockhart and will probably focus on Victorian jobs, family life and travel.

Enquiries from teachers are always welcome with regard to local history resources.
