We know a lot about how the Romans lived when they stayed in our area because of what they left behind here. ARCHAEOLOGISTS discover these facts by EXCAVATIONS of Roman SITES. Often the first clue to where these sites are comes from AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHS.

The Romans were very religious, with many different Gods and Goddesses which they worshipped at sacred stones called ALTARS.
Find the Roman altars from Birrens.
Choose one and draw it on your drawing paper.
Make notes of its size, shape, colour and the material it is made from.
